5 reasons to visit INTERGEO 2017
Are you interested in innovative products and services in the GEOSPATIAL sector? If so, INTERGEO is the place for you! And there are plenty of reasons besides to visit Berlin from 26 to 28 September 2017:
1. The world’s No. 1 event for the geospatial community
Once again in 2017, the leading international trade fair for geodesy, geoinformation and land management’s hot topics will highlight ground-breaking developments and projects in a dynamic geo-IT sector. At last year’s fair, more than 17,000 visitors discovered the latest innovations from 531 companies from 37 different countries. And the community is continuing to grow!
Facts and Figures of INTERGEO 2016
2. High-profile conference with key topics
With COPERNICUS as one of the headline topics, this year’s INTERGEO conference acknowledges the growing importance of remote sensing. Very aptly given that Berlin is hosting INTERGEO this year, open data and open government have also emerged as key focal points. Further features of this year’s INTERGEO include the smart city/digital city, digital planning and building/BIM, which featured successfully last year, along with developments/applications relating to UAS.
3. New themed trade fair platforms
SMART CITY SOLUTIONS: Immerse yourself in inspiring visions of the city of the future and exciting projects that are already up and running right now! Check out SMART CITY SOLUTIONS at the exhibition and forum in hall 7.1a.
INTERAERIAL SOLUTIONS: The leading platform for commercial and civil drone use in Europe – this year in Berlin in hall 6.1 – complements the flight show for drones in the Summer Garden with an extensive overview of the latest market developments, end-to-end business models, manufacturers and suppliers of drones in its own hall.
4. Host city Berlin
International experts and decision-makers from the worlds of politics, science and industry will be coming together in Germany’s vibrant capital to share information and ideas. Three exciting days of INTERGEO in the halls of Messe Berlin will be enhanced by additional INTERGEO excursions and naturally plenty of opportunities to explore Berlin.

5. INTERGEO and German Cartography Conference
The digitalisation process, Geoinformation 4.0, BIM and smart cities are key buzzwords in the geo and IT industries. Innovative forms of capturing data – COPERNICUS, UAVs and other mobile procedures – are becoming increasingly crucial to an extremely wide range of applications and call for innovative processing and presentation methods. INTERGEO and the German Cartography Conference are being staged alongside each other and will be addressing precisely these issues.
The overview of topics for 2016
The cloud is changing everything. Decisionmakers are looking for secure and fast solutions. Stable platforms and innovative software for greater flexibility and digital mobility.
The world of surveying is undergoing radical change – new, holistic solutions are the key to serving the entire value creation chain.
Everything is becoming networked – more and more machines, goods and objects are fitted with sensors and radio chips and communicate with each other autonomously.
Taking and evaluating survey photographs to determine the condition, shape and position of any object for creating maps, digital GIS landscape models and special jobs such as architecture and accident photogrammetry.
GNSS surveying systems unite the latest GNSS technology with high-performance data management. Perfect for all GNSS applications, e.g. in the field of surveying systems, construction and machine controls, data collection and reference networks.
There seems to be no end to the potential applications of UAVs – whether that be surveying objects and areas using orthographic photos to create point clouds, volume calculations, digital elevation and 3D models or in industrial applications, monitoring, aerial imagery or photography.
Anyone who can master the ever-growing data volumes and glean knowledge from them has a competitive advantage. Exhibits will include new IT structures and systems for displaying and analysing connections, patterns and trends that use data from a variety of sources to enable informed decisions.
GIS platforms offer a wide range of opportunities for using geographical data to create solutions or make decisions – for spatial analysis, real-time GIS, map creation and visualisation, geographic analyses, etc.
Thanks to cutting-edge laser technology, highly detailed 3D models can be produced of buildings, structures and geometric elements. These can be used for building surveys, process plant planning, conservation, industrial installations and infrastructure projects or for monitoring structural deformations.
Building Information Modelling (BIM) is currently the hottest topic in construction. According to experts, BIM will revolutionise building design and all related fields in the next few years.
Local authorities, urban planners and large technology companies are all interested in designing towns that are more efficient, more technologically advanced, greener and more socially inclusive. This will take new concepts and solutions.
