Molecular and Cellular Biology (MCB) is a premier journal covering research in all aspects of the molecular biology of eukaryotic cells. The journal publishes work on microbial as well as higher organisms and on viral systems where the emphasis is clearly on the cell.
MCB has an impact factor of 6.773, according to the Institute for Scientific Information’s 2006 Journal Citation Reports. It is ranked #25 by impact factor out of 156 journals in Cell Biology and #30 out of 262 journals in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
Access to ASM’s online primary-research journals is FREE 4 months after an issue’s publication. For example, on November 1, the full-text articles from the previous May issue become free. Access to the online review journals, Clinical Microbiology Reviews and Microbiology and Molecular Biology Reviews, is FREE 1 year after publication.
Eukaryotic cells deal with accumulation of unfolded proteins in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) by the unfolded protein response, involving the induction of molecular chaperones, translational ...

Telomere length and function are crucial factors that determine the capacity for cell proliferation and survival, mediate cellular senescence, and play a role in malignant transformation in ...
Telomere length is controlled by a homeostatic mechanism that involves telomerase, telomere-associated proteins, and conventional replication machinery. Specifically, the coordinated actions of the ...
We recently reported that Rho kinase is required for sustained ERK signaling and the consequent mid-G1 phase induction of cyclin D1 in fibroblasts. The results presented here indicate that these Rho ...
DNA methylation and chromatin modification operate along a common pathway to repress transcription; accordingly, several experiments demonstrate that the effects of DNA methylation can spread in cis ...
Many cellular stimuli result in the induction of both the tumor suppressor p53 and NF-B. In contrast to activation of p53, which is associated with the induction of apoptosis, stimulation of NF-B has ...

Mitogen-induced activation of p70(s6k) is associated with the phosphorylation of specific sites which are negatively affected by the immunosuppressant rapamycin, the fungal metabolite wortmannin, and ...
Conditional overexpression of human cyclins B1, D1, and E was accomplished by using a synthetic cDNA expression system based on the Escherichia coli tetracycline repressor. After induction of these ...
