Gas Detection Solutions for Sour Gas

by Boreal Laser Inc.     based in Edmonton, ALBERTA (CANADA)

The sour (H2S) content of hydrocarbon fields worldwide is increasing, and many natural gas fields have very high H2S – sometimes in excess of 50%. H2S is extremely dangerous because, although people can smell it at low levels (about 5 ppb) it does not smell much worse at the exposure limit value of 10 ppm or at potentially fatal levels in excess of 100 ppm. Therefore smell is an unreliable means of determining dangerous levels. Existing H2S point sensors are maintenance intensive, slow to respond and provide limited coverage. Most H2S sensors do not work reliably in hot or cold weather, or in humid marine environments.

Gas Detection

by Argus-Hazco     based in Chesterfield, MICHIGAN (USA)

Gas Detection is our core business, whether portable, colormetric, fixed systems or Hazmat. We do more than get you the equipment you need--we also help you select it, calibrate it, service it and maintain it. Our technicians, our sales reps and top management can speak with authority on the capabilities of our equipment and match it to your specific application. And we are the champions of the one-of-a-kind solution, because we have the know-how and the right tools.

Gas Detection Solutions for Gold Refining

by Boreal Laser Inc.     based in Edmonton, ALBERTA (CANADA)

Hydrogen Cyanide (HCN) is a highly toxic compound that is a byproduct of many industrial processes. Existing HCN point sensors are maintenance intensive, slow to respond and provide limited coverage. Many HCN sensors do not work reliably in hot or cold weather, or in humid environments. Our technology can be used for fixed monitoring applications or for temporary protection of workers during construction projects.

Air Quality & Emission Management Issues

by PP `Tehnologia O`     based in Vinnytsia, UKRAINE

• Development of documents substantiating the volumes of emissions of pollutants into the air from stationary sources for enterprises, organizations and private entrepreneurs; • Inventory of air pollutants emissions from stationary sources; • Preparing, maintenance support of documentation for receiving a Permit for Emissions of Pollutants into the Air from Stationary Sources (PEPASS) *, issued by the Departments of Environment and Natural Resources of the regional state administrations of Ukraine; • Development and registration of dust and gas cleaning equipment passports; • Monitoring of the dust and gas cleaning equipment effectiveness; • Quality control of the implementation of projects of Maximum Permissible Emissions (MPE); • Calculation of fees for environmental pollution (environmental tax) on the basis of amount of emission of pollutants into the air.

Gas detection for the steel industry

by Crowcon Detection Instruments Ltd - a Halma company     based in Milton Park, UNITED KINGDOM

Regarded by many as providing the backbone to modern society, the steel industry is one which continues to evolve. Whether it is geographic shifts in demand or production, or challenges brought by energy or raw material costs, companies continue to develop their processes and facilities to meet them. Alongside these changes companies have also realised the requirement to minimise downtime due to unplanned maintenance and protect workers from exposure to toxic or flammable gas hazards.

Gas monitoring instruments and systems for process NOx measurement

by Gasmet Technologies Oy     based in Helsinki, FINLAND

Nitric acid HNO3 is an important intermediate reagent for production of several important end products, such as fertilizers, explosives, dyestuffs/pigments, pesticides, pharmaceuticals, photographic materials, plastics, and synthetic fibers. At nitric acid manufacturing plants, the Gasmet™ FTIR Gas Analyzer can be used to measure several gaseous components from the process stream for purposes of process control. A single system can be used to measure the high levels of nitrogen monoxide NO and nitrogen dioxide NO2, as well as water vapor H2O, nitrous oxide N2O, carbon monoxide CO, carbon dioxide CO2 and ammonia NH3. The fixed installation products for these purposes are the Gasmet™ CEM II measurement system, and the Gasmet™ FCX Gas Analyzers, both of which utilize the FTIR measurement technique for simultaneous multicomponent analysis of the sample gas.

Measurement solution for to multi-stream by-pass system

by Protea Limited     based in Middlewich, UNITED KINGDOM

A large pharmaceutical plant runs a Thermal Oxidiser on plant to incinerate their solvent-containing gas streams before emission. When the oxidiser is offline, then the plant must monitor the release of solvent to the atmosphere. A ProtIR 204C fixed monitoring system was installed that continually measures 24 plant solvents, including Acetone, Cyclohexane, DCM, DMF, IPA, MIBK, Toluene and THF. Given the high levels that are possible, the system has an active dilution system, reducing the concentration of the measured gas in the analyser to levels that can be analysed simply. Chemometric modelling enables interferences from the overlapping absorption spectra to be accounted for, ensuring accurate analysis of all 24 gases.

Measurement solution for on-line carbon bed system

by Protea Limited     based in Middlewich, UNITED KINGDOM

Commonly, activated carbon beds are used as abatement systems on plant, with emissions being reduced by adsorption onto the bed. The efficiency of any abatement system is critical to its operation, not just in ensuring emissions are reduced as much as possible, but an efficient bed has cost savings for the operator.

Single Gas Monitoring - Fixed in-situ Duct Path

by Boreal Laser Inc.     based in Edmonton, ALBERTA (CANADA)

Application: Measurements of single gas species through a fixed in-situ duct path. Example: Monitoring NH3 emissions in coal fired power generating stations.
