    Water monitoring technology for groundwater

Measuring groundwater level or depth-to-water is critically important for identifying long term trends, including declining water levels, saltwater intrusion, seasonal variations, aquifer recharge, artificial aquifer storage and recovery, and level status for drinking water. Receiving groundwater data via remote data transmission from one of the many OTT telemetry options available saves time and resources spent in the field.

  • Data analysis and visualization tools for monitoring well decommissioning

Contaminated groundwater sites worldwide are engaged in regular sampling of monitoring wells at a typical cost of $1,500 per well-sampling event. On most sites, many wells are redundant or geostatistically insignificant and can be decommissioned.
EVS-PRO and MVS`s Well Decommission module analyses all available data and quantifies the impact on site assessment quality associated with removing each well. The impact of removing a well is quantified in terms of its impact on the geostatistical plume extent.
During remediation plumes are shrinking and may drift. This can necessitate decommissioning of some wells and adding new wells. C Tech`s well decommissioning and DrillGuide© technology provide the tools to properly monitor and guide the remediation efforts at the lowest possible cost.

  • Groundwater Monitoring for Water Management

Fresh water is one of the planets most critical resources essential to all land based life It is also one of the planets most rapidly diminishing resources. Conservation and protection of existing supplies and the rehabilitation of degraded sources are one of the most urgent problems facing humanity today.

  • Ground Penetrating Radars (GPR) for Archaeology

In archaeology using GPR you can process considerable areas of planned excavations. Therefore, the needed excavation area can be substantially reduced. Time and financial costs reduce as well. Examining historical buildings GPRs allow to find hidden rooms, spot areas of demolition in the object structure. What is remarkable, you can make a noncontact research with GPR (e.g. above ground surface).

  • Vacuum excavation solutions for locate underground utilities / soft dig / pot holing

Vacuum excavation is fast becoming a best practice in the field of construction and site excavation. Why? Because it uses jets of air (air excavation) or water (hydro excavation) to loosen soil, instead of a heavy metal claw. After loosening, the soil is pulled out of the ground through an air vacuum hose to a debris tank for later disposal or back-filling. Using non-destructive technology can quickly, safely and economically excavate in areas inaccessible to conventional digging equipment like backhoes and trenchers.

  • Data analysis and visualization tools for groundwater modeling

Groundwater and Solute Transport modeling is a sub discipline of environmental sciences with unique needs. Modeling has long utilized 3D simulations, but the ability to visualize the results has lagged far behind the simulation technology. EVS-PRO and MVS have long offered professional level presentation tools worthy of the current state-of-the-art in modeling, and EnterVol now opens that door to GIS professionals around the world. Visualization of groundwater and solute transport modeling results can be performed from third party modeling systems such as USGS MODFLOW, MT3D, GMS©, Groundwater Vistas and Visual MODFLOW© using C Tech’s tools to convert these modeling outputs into EFF format. In conjunction with Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and IT Group, C Tech performed the visualization and animation of the output from a Groundwater Vistas MODFLOW and MT3D99 simulation of a large industrial complex in the central valley area of California.  This site exhibits highly channelized flow which is evidenced by the flow paths. Note that flow in the lower aquifer crosses underneath the upper channels at about 30 degrees!

  • Continuous Monitoring of Groundwater

The Sorbisense method allows for measuring the average concentration of substances in groundwater over a period of up to 1 month with only one sample.

The system provides methods for measurements in both unsaturated and saturated zone and provides access to dynamic boundaries of contaminants and more realistic risk assessments. For example, through direct measurements of seepage from contaminants and by continuous measurement of emissions from cropland.

  • Separation and filtration for urban areas

In urban areas can geotextiles be found in most diverse applications. The geotextiles are being used in access and paved roads, sport fields, riverbed protection, drainage trenches and pond liner protection. The geotextiles are also being used in vertical drainage applications. Groundwater and excess rainwater can be controlled well when geotextiles are properly used. More and more floods cause serious damage to urban areas.

  • Data analysis and visualization tools for soil contamination

C Tech is known worldwide for our innovative approaches to Soil contamination modeling. Soil contaminant data can often span 6 orders of magnitude or more. Extremely high gradients coupled with limited budgets make it very challenging to develop reasonable models of contaminant distributions. EnterVol incorporates C Tech’s proven expert systems to conquer the challenging process of developing reasonable volumetric plume models. EnterVol provides the ability to present reams of complex geologic and environmental contamination data in a form that is easily comprehended by a judge, jury or the public. In our world where 3D models are commonplace on television, environmental litigators cannot afford to present complex geochemistry data with graphs and charts. You need defensible, data driven models with the realism to win the jury’s minds and the statistical foundation and sound science to stand up to the most rigorous cross examination.
