Primary air control for coal-fired power plants

by Kurz Instruments, Inc.     based in Monterey, CALIFORNIA (USA)

Power Generation Combustion Air Measurements: The need for accurate, repeatable & reliable combustion air measurements in power generation plants is critical to efficient operation and safety throughout the entire facility and processes. Coal-fired power plant applications pose a number of challenges to obtaining these critical flow measurements includ¬ing large ducts, limited metering runs, poor velocity and temperature profiles, high vibration, temperatures up to 750° F and dirty `Fly Ash` laden air.

Water Quality in watersheds

by FTS     based in Victoria, BRITISH COLUMBIA (CANADA)

Metro Vancouver serves an area of 282,000 hectares (approximately 1,088 square miles). The drinking water supplied to the 2.3 million residents of this growing community is sourced from three major reservoirs – Capilano, Seymour and Coquitlam. These vast watersheds, located in the mountains north of Vancouver, gather billions of gallons of snowmelt and rainwater. From these reservoirs, the water is treated and filtered to remove turbidity and potentially harmful micro-organisms ensuring quality drinking water is available to homes throughout the Metro Vancouver district.

Metrology and Positioning

by Valeport Ltd     based in Totnes, UNITED KINGDOM

Valeport’s Bathymetry products offer high accuracy depth with added density correction.  We provide software to allow multiple depth sensor inputs that are coupled to a Bathypack and altimeter.

Sound velocity sensors and probes give added accuracy to underwater inertial navigation systems, USBL and LBL transponder networks.  They can be provided as stand alone systems or as an OEM for integration into your own product.

Measuring an asymmetric flow profile

by NIVUS GmbH     based in Eppingen, GERMANY

Application: Rectangular channel, 2.5 m width. Part filled. Rectangular channel made of concrete. Fluctuating asymmetric flow conditions.

Permeable Plastic Paving For Resin Bound Stone

by Ecogrid Ltd     based in Wallasey, UNITED KINGDOM

Resin bound stone is a new and effective way of providing a highly aesthetic surface for your home, business premises or other external or for that matter, internal surface area that is both very robust and load bearing, but also fully permeable or porous. That means that any water or rainwater that hits the surface will freely drain through the resin bound topping and through the Ecogrid base system to naturally dissipate in to the water table.

Remote monitoring stations

by FTS     based in Victoria, BRITISH COLUMBIA (CANADA)

The Water Survey of Canada, a division of Environment Canada, is a federal government agency responsible for collection, interpretation and dissemination of water source data and information. As a division of Environment Canada, the Water Survey of Canada (WSC) covers a vast range of topographical environs from Arctic Canada to the US border with elevations varying from sea level to over 13,000 feet (4,000 metres). An estimated 7% of the world’s renewable water supplies are found in Canada. Canada’s hydrology is incredibly diverse thanks to a wide range of bio-physical ecozones. WSC operates in partnership with all of the Canadian provinces, territories and other agencies, operating over 2,500 active hydrometric gauges across the country. The hydrologic and socioeconomic diversity found in Canada makes water resource management incredibly challenging.

Dye Tracing

by Chelsea Technologies Group     based in West Molesey, UNITED KINGDOM

Monitoring the dilution and movement of a tracer introduced into the water column provides an excellent means of determining the path that may be followed by a discharge and the rate at which dilution is likely to take place. Fluorescent dyes such as Rhodamine, Fluorescein or Agma are the most frequently used tracers for such investigations. Chelsea Technologies has been providing dye tracing systems for over 30 years. Typical applications include sub-sea pipeline leak detection, pollution studies, natural water flow analysis (rivers, lakes, ocean currents, cave water flows, groundwater filtration etc), sewer and storm water drainage analysis. The Chelsea systems can be configured for a wide variety of tracers, are highly sensitive, robust, and deliver real-time data. They can be moored, profiled, towed or affixed to ROV / AUV platforms.

Electrical Based Tomography Systems for Slurry Flow

by Industrial Tomography Systems plc (ITS)     based in Manchester, UNITED KINGDOM

Slurry transportation is required in a diverse range of sectors, from food to minerals processing; and oil sands processing to nuclear waste management. As a process it requires significant levels of energy and the abrasive nature of materials used can lead to ongoing issues of pipeline erosion.

Offering localized atmospheric and solar radiation output in order to model & manage energy use for energy sector

by Weather Analytics     based in Bethesda, MARYLAND (USA)

Seismic Monitoring

by Valeport Ltd     based in Totnes, UNITED KINGDOM

With Sound Velocity through the water being of prime importance during seismic surveys, Valeport offer a variety of sensors and probes to measure sound velocity with an unsurpassed accuracy level.  Whether you require just a sensor or a SVP for profiling, we have products for surface use and up to 6000m depth operation.

AutoChem - Process Safety

by Mettler - Toledo Int. Inc     based in Greifensee, SWITZERLAND

Detect Thermal Hazards Early and Design Safety Into The Chemical Process. We must ask ourselves: How much heat will be generated under normal conditions? How will a change in condition, controlled or uncontrolled, change the rate of heat generation? Can our process equipment handle removing the heated generated? Answering these questions with speed and accuracy is necessary to ensure safe and efficient design and scale-up of synthesis reactions.

Mercury monitoring for aircraft research measurement

by Tekran Instruments Corporation     based in Knoxville, TENNESSEE (USA)

An examination of the literature shows that the Tekran 2537 is the choice for measurements of mercury aboard research aircraft. Several research groups in Europe and North America have used the Tekran 2537 on an aircraft platform for point source plume studies, free troposphere speciation characterization, vertical profiles, characterizing emission source regions and even the stratosphere (http://www.caribic-atmospheric.com/instrum/hg.html). Normally, the Tekran 2537 requires simple modifications for aircraft studies. Ask us to point you to past research, collaborating research groups and technical information if you are interested in mercury aircraft studies.
