Air monitoring equipments for soil contamination monitoring

by Gradko International Ltd     based in Winchester, UNITED KINGDOM

Previous land uses or accidental spills can result in Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) contamination of soils. Volatile and semi-volatile compounds can then permeate through the soil and may persist for several years. This contamination can be traced and measured using our Soil Probes in conjunction with our VOC sorbent tubes. Soil probes are also useful in checking the effectiveness of remediation actions. This monitoring technique provides a cost-effective identification of hazardous gases.

Hazardous waste treatment solutions for oil and gas industry

by econ industries GmbH     based in Starnberg, GERMANY

There are a wide amount of applications for our VacuDry® process within the oil and gas industry. A large variety of wastes and by-products that are generated in the oil & gas production chain can be treated effectively and sustainably. In past decades, numerous thermal desorption processes have been implemented worldwide, using a variety of heating chamber designs to separate hydrocarbons from the mineral solids. Such standard TDUs work under atmospheric pressure which can lead to safety risks, high energy consumption, larger emissions and limited flexibility regarding altering feed materials. Due to its unique design, the complications outlined above are avoided throughout the VacuDry® process. When it comes to treating standard oily wastes, mercury-containing waste streams, NORM, and especially for the recovery of highly valuable drilling fluids from drill cuttings; our vacuum thermal desorption process (i.e. vacuum distillation) is economically unbeatable.

Video Inspection of Monitoring Wells

by Allegheny Instruments, Inc.     based in Monterey, VIRGINIA (USA)

GeoVISION borehole video camera systems are used to visually inspect monitoring wells.

ph determination for soil testing

by Metrohm AG     based in Herisau, SWITZERLAND

Determination of the pH value provides information about the acid or base action of the soil solution. This in turn is enormously important for the nutrient supply and microbial activity of the soil. For example, many metals (trace elements) are considerably more mobile in acidic soils. If the soil pH values are very low, toxic levels can soon be reached and these can damage the roots of plants. On the other hand, excessively high pH values quickly lead to a shortage of trace elements because of immobilization.

Applications Testing GRO in Soil at Gasoline UST Site

by Sitelab Corporation     based in West Newbury, MASSACHUSETTS (USA)

Sitelab's UVF-3100D is used by an environmental consultant to test contaminated soils at a former gasoline station. The UVF produces very accurate results, matching well to GRO and VPH test methods performed by certified laboratories.

XRF analysis for environmental applications

by Niton UK Limited     based in Woodmancott, Winchester, UNITED KINGDOM

Niton analysers are versatile environmental testing instruments that provide valuable assistance in portable soil testing applications such as brownfield site investigation. With the ability to analyse a wide range of materials, our instruments provide lab-quality soil/sediment chemistry in seconds. Lead, arsenic, cadmium, chromium, and other toxic metals contaminate sites of former industrial and agricultural activity around the world. Whatever the reasons for these occurrences, these pollutants cannot be ignored – particularly as environmental consciousness and regulatory initiatives grow.

Crude Oil Applications in Canada

by Sitelab Corporation     based in West Newbury, MASSACHUSETTS (USA)

Sitelab's UVF-3100D analyzer is used in Canada for sites contaminated with heavy crude oil and bitumen.

TPH in Soil Remediation

by Spectro Scientific     based in Chelmsford, MASSACHUSETTS (USA)

InfraCal TOG/TPH Analyzers allow for TPH (Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons) in soil testing at remediation sites such as leaking underground storage tanks and produced water evaporation ponds. Site managers can avoid having costly soil remediation equipment sit idle while waiting for off-site lab results. Sampling requires a few simple steps that can be performed by non-technical personnel. The soil is mixed with the extraction solvent, shaken, filtered, and then presented to the InfraCal Analyzer for measurement. Features include: - Results in under 15 minutes, including extraction ¨ Detect levels as low as 10 ppm ¨ Portable, rugged, lightweight, easy-to-use ¨ Battery operable ¨ Ideal for field or laboratory applications ¨ Factory calibration available
