15th Annual Maxxam Award honours achievement in analytical chemistry

Mississauga, ON -- Dr. Heather Lord, Maxxam’s Manager, Environmental R&D, was pleased to present the 15th Annual Maxxam Award to Dr. Sergey Krylov on June 5th at the CSC2014 Awards Banquet in Vancouver, BC. Dr. Lord also delivered a presentation titled: Overcoming the Technical Challenges of LDPE Passive Sampling for PAHs in Groundwater and Surface Water.

The Maxxam Award is presented annually to a scientist who has made a distinguished contribution to the field of analytical chemistry while working in Canada; it is presented each year as part of the Canadian Chemistry Conference & Exhibition – hosted by the Canadian Society for Chemistry (CSC) and the Chemical Institute of Canada (CIC).

This year’s winner, Dr. Krylov, is Professor of Chemistry and Canada Research Chair in Bioanalytical Chemistry at York University. His most recent publications and research are on the topics of Extracting kinetics from affinity capillary electrophoresis (ACE) data and Direct Quantitative Analysis of Multiple miRNAs – a new tool for personalized cancer medicine. Also during CSC2014, Greg Sparrow, Maxxam’s Trace Metals Supervisor, presented a Poster Session titled: A Novel Approach to Mercury Determination in Environmental Samples Using an Injection Valve Coupled to a CVAF Mercury Analyzer.
