Active Water Sciences Wins Environmental Technology Award
New Wastewater Treatment System Called Market Innovator
Palestine, TX., June 2, 2010 – Active Water Sciences, LLC, pioneering developer of The Water Phoenix wastewater treatment system, has been honored for introducing a breakthrough technology with far-reaching impact on improving the global environment.
The company won the IMPACT Award for developing the first portable, scalable, biologically based autonomous wastewater treatment system that can convert municipal wastewater into EPA-standard water in less than 24 hours. Unlike other wastewater treatment systems, The Water Phoenix produces virtually no sludge. It is monitored and controlled remotely via the Internet for up to six months at a time. The award, sponsored by TECH Fort Worth, a nonprofit business incubator, recognizes companies that better our world by bringing to market innovations that improve the environment, community or health. Active Water Sciences won in the environmental category, competing against eight other emerging technology innovation firms.
According Darlene Ryan, executive director of TECH Fort Worth, winners were chosen because their innovation has the most beneficial impact on the greatest number of people. The technology must also be cutting-edge as it relates to competitors in the marketplace.
“There is nothing like this on the market today,” said Mike Rainone, president of Active Water Sciences. “Other systems don’t have the efficiency, effectiveness, scalability or portability of The Water Phoenix. We can help people in third world countries, nations recovering from disasters, companies that are environmentally responsible, and municipalities under pressure to expand their wastewater treatment systems. The list goes on and on.”
The company has shipped two Water Phoenix units to Afghanistan, and four additional units are on order for military use.
