Please find below the statement made by the EI London and Home Counties branch Chair, Dr Boma Douglas at the branch AGM which was held on 30 November 2015.
'The past year has been a busy one for the branch. Despite the fact that the Energy Institute (EI) Headquarters was not available for our use due to the refurbishment, we were able to have two events which was well attended, namely the Electricity Capacity Event and the ESOS Event. I wish to thank our Vice Chair Humphrey Douglas for linking us up with Dentons in our period of need. The Committee have had their meetings at Dentons' offices since the EI started the refurbishment.
I wish to thank our outgoing secretary Hilary Butler for all the support.
We are hoping to organize 5 events next year starting February and then March, April, May and June.
The Topics are as follows:-
February: Stranded Fossil Fuel Assets
April: Energy & Air Quality
June: Thorium Reactors
Island energy was also mentioned but apart from the first topic for which action is needed we could agree at the next meeting on the order of the others. Committee members are encouraged to align themselves to the suggested topics to carry out events.
I wish to formally welcome Mr Oliver Grifiths, our new Officer in charge of organizing Interesting Site visits. He has already hinted that a CHP site will be visited soon.
Finally I wish to thank all members of the EI London and Home Counties branch for their dedication and good spirit of volunteering.'
