A water well system of 65 pumps on an area of more than 400 square kilometers supplies water to a purification plant, where it's aerated and filtered. Well depths are 300 to 400 meters. The purified water is carried to Riyadh City through a transmission pipeline which is 170 km long and 1200 millimeters in diameter. The objective is to achieve pumping up to 360,000 cubic meters of drinking water per day to Riyadh.
On the Al Hunnayy project 7T is a sub-contractor to the main contractor Siemens Belgium. 7T supplies the AQUIS real-time Pipeline Simulation System (PSS) consisting of:
- a fully transient
real-time pipeline model
- leak detection
and leak location
- scheduling and
pump optimization including hydraulic constraints, outage of equipment and
varying energy prices
- two-way SCADA
- customized reports
- a modified AQUIS GUI
The Al Hunnayy AQUIS Water Management project is one out of several AQUIS projects in the region. However, there is also a growing interest in the AQUIS Water Management platform in Europe, the U.S. and the Far East. The AQUIS Water Management platform has proven to be unique on features, user friendliness and is extremely cost efficient - matters that count in today´s international and competitive water industry market. 7T also cooperates with Siemens on the GMMR Phase II AQUIS Water Management project in Libya which is one of the most ambitious water projects in the world.
