Todays's guest is David Mager, environmental scientist and co-author of Street Smart Sustainability: the Entrepreneur's Guide to profitably greening your organization's DNA, published by the Social Venture Network Series, of which David and his co-author, CSRwire CEO Joe Sibilia, are members.
While attending Stuyvesant High School in New York in 1968, David Mager helped organize high schools in the United States and around the world for the first Earth Day. Since that time he has worked with over 300 companies, including General Electric, General Motors, IBM, Anheuser-Busch, Nestle, Coca-Cola, Hallmark, CitiGroup, Unilever, and Amoco, in helping them become greener profitably. A pioneer in performing comprehensive sustainability audits, David has worked with many socially responsible companies including Stonyfield Farm, Aveda, Gaiam, Tommy Boy Entertainment, and Rhino Records, Motherwear, Mal Warwick Associates, and Eileen Fisher.
The question of 'how can we truly green our businesses so that they are sustainable and at least as, if not even more profitable?' will be the pivotal question in today's show. So many businesses are 'going green' while others balk in the shadows, 'afraid' to come forward. Today's show will make clear to those hesitating how economically and ecologically smart it is to step forward. David and Mitchell are friends and colleagues for many years so the dialogue will be both a deep and lively one.
