A promising new trade fair

The professional trade fair 'Industrie & Milieu', held recently in Rotterdam (Netherlands), will be held again next year on 2 and 3 April, in Rotterdam's Ahoy centre. easyFairs, the company which organised the fair, is pleased with the first show. The results are promising: 1,300 visitors, excluding the 1,200 visitors to the complementary 'Fluids' show, and about 70 exhibitors, 25% of whom reserved space immediately for 2008. 'The fair was a complete success,' says Gitta Spruit, sales manager for easyFairs. 'Attendance was well distributed over time, so exhibitors had time to talk and do business with their visitors. The quality of visitors was very high. They were people who were genuinely looking for innovations and new environmental techniques.' The visitor profile was a good match for the organisers' intention to offer an alternative to large international exhibitions: over half of the visitors were managers or directors.

The proportion of visitors from small, medium, and large businesses was also remarkable: 19% with more than 500 employees, 28% between 50 and 499, and 25% with fewer than 10. 'The combination of the two shows worked very well,' explains Laurens Vonk, sales manager for Fluids. 'They are definitely complementary, especially in the sphere of air and gas filters, environmental techniques for liquids, and water management.' The special learnShop workshop was very popular. During the two days of the show, customers of some of the exhibitors presented case studies on the solutions they offer to meet current challenges in their sectors. 'It was clear that the market needed more information on the subjects covered by the presenters,' says Spruit. The presentations are now available on easyFairs' website.
