A&WMA offers expansive student program at 102nd Annual Conference & Exhibition
The Air & Waste Management Association (A&WMA) will hold its 102nd Annual Conference & Exhibition (ACE), June 16-19, 2009, in Detroit, MI. ACE will offer an expansive student program with many opportunities for networking and professional development.
“ACE 2009 provides the ideal opportunity for students to make an impression on influential environmental leaders,” said Adrianne Carolla, A&WMA Executive Director. “Motivated students looking to hear new technical information and showcase their knowledge should be sure to participate in the many student activities offered at ACE.”
ACE provides a number of chances for students pursuing careers in the environmental field to present and publish their work, and to gain recognition for exceptional work by winning awards and cash prizes. Undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students can participate in the Environmental Challenge International (ECi), a student team competition which requires teams to develop and present a multidisciplinary solution to a “real-life” environmental issue. Over $15,000 in prize money will be awarded to the winners.
ACE also offers opportunities for students to network with environmental professionals and to gain valuable career advice. Just a few of the planned sessions include a resume critique with Vanderbilt University associate professor Julie Sharp, a speed networking session with seasoned environmental professionals, and the Chapter Exchange Lunch.
