Abengoa (MCE: ABG.B/P SM /NASDAQ: ABGB), the international company that applies innovative technology solutions for sustainability in the energy and environment sectors, has been selected to carry out a new power transmission project in Costa Rica as part of consortium with Siemens. The project is worth $15.7 million.
Abengoa will be responsible for the supply, construction, testing and commissioning of the 230 kV power transmission substation located to the west of Coco de Siquirres in Limón province. The new substation will connect four transmission lines of the Reventazón hydroelectric project, enabling the power generated by the plant to be connected to the national power grid.
This new contract is in addition to two other projects that Abengoa is currently carrying out in Costa Rica, specifically in the cities of San José and Cartago, which it was awarded in the first three months of the year.
This latest project will expand Abengoa’s experience of transmission lines, consolidating its leadership position in this sector, in which it has more than 25,000 km in these types of transmission projects. The company has also been recognized for the second consecutive year as the leading international contractor for power infrastructures in the latest edition of the annual ranking drawn up by the prestigious and specialist publication Engineering News-Record.
