HBR were awarded the bio remedation and groundwater treatment works at the former Exxon Mobile research centre at Milton Hill, Abingdon. The main contractor is Masterton Demolition who have cleared the site to ground level and exposed the area of contamination below the former barrel store.
HBR are responsible for the excavation and processing of 16,000 m3 of made ground and weathered mudstone. Parsons Brinkerhoff are the Client's environmental consultant and ABB are the Project Managers. Works commenced in June and are programmed for completion in October 2008.
James A. Jacobs, PG, CHG, CPG, CPetG, is among the first five to receive the National Ground Water Association’s new Fellow designation in recognition of outstanding credentials, professional accomplishments, and commitment to promoting the increased understanding of groundwater science and water well system technology.
Jacobs is with the Clearwater Group in Pt. Richmond, California.

The effect of the innovative solution PerfluorAd is to remove the bulk of PFAS or PFC contaminats prior to an activated carbon polishing system without breakdown components and with the result that activated carbon life is significantly extended and disposal costs reduced.
Data are derived from a real field application at a European airport. We are happy to share the results. PFC concentration had been up to 700 µg/L. Removal rate achieved more than 90% in the pre-treatment step.
The remediation system is...
Perfluoroalkyl and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFASs) are common in Aqueous Film Forming Foams (AFFF) used for firefighting. PFASs are widely distributed across the higher trophic levels and are found in air, soil and groundwater at sites across the U.S. (EPA 505-F-14-001, March 2014). The toxicity, mobility and bioaccumulation potential of PFASs pose potential adverse effects for the environment and human health. They are persistent in the environment, among the strongest organic compounds and thus considered...
In a tragic car accident on the highway at Heerenveen on Saturday, 12th December mr. Rob Dirkse passed away. Mister Dirkse was the founder of DMT Milieutechnologie, our engineering firm that grew in the 90’s into a global player in the field of groundwater treatment. In 1999 his son Erwin took over the general management. From the base in Heerenveen DMT moved to Joure, where the company expanded with innovative technology in the field of (bio) gas upgrading and desulphurisation. Rob Dirkse remained involved...
Peter S. Cartwright, PE, named the 2016 McEllhiney Distinguished Lecturer, will present “Water Well Contaminants and Treatment Options,” the National Ground Water Research and Educational Foundation announced today.
Cartwright, who owns and operates Cartwright Consulting Co. with offices in Minneapolis and the Netherlands, has been in the treatment side of the water industry since 1974.
