Accident at Sierra Chemical`s Sparks facility

Sparks, NV -- Sierra Chemical Company, is deeply saddened to confirm a fatal accident has occurred at the company’s Sparks, NV facility at approximately 8am Pacific Daylight Time, April 25, 2014. The employee was performing a test operation on a 550 gallon bulk (tote) package using compressed air when the tote burst. No other injuries occurred, no material was released and the site has been secured. Sierra is participating in an on-going investigation of the incident in cooperation with the Reno Fire and Police departments, OSHA and the FBI. Sierra is cooperating fully with all regulatory authorities.

All Sierra operations have been voluntarily suspended while the investigation continues. Grief counseling is being provided to all employees. Sierra will work with family members of the deceased to help them through this difficult time.
