Make methanol from the glycerol

August 15, 2014 -- San Miguel, ARGENTINA.

ABATEC SA introduces the BD4-MG system, to manufacture Methanol from crude Glycerol.
It is an innovative way for adding value to the glycerol produced in the biodiesel plants.

The SAVOIA BD4-MG system is a simple and safe process to treat 1000 L/day (250 gal/d) of glycerol, for getting around 35% of dry methanol, 25% FFA and a balance of glycols. The only inputs are water and power.

The Methanol and FFA's can be added to the alcoholysis reaction to reduce the biodiesel production cost.

With this new and affordable equipment, ABATEC SA improves its technological line for adding value to the glycerol, as the company also offers the BD2-G reactor to convert 100% glycerol in cattle feed.
