Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM) has selected ADI Systems Inc. to design and build a new wastewater treatment system at one of its processing plants in Brazil.
ADM, one of the world's leading agricultural processors, produces quality foods, livestock feed ingredients, alternative fuels, as well as other products. ADM connects crops to markets in more than 140 countries on six continents.
The biological wastewater treatment system that ADI Systems will deliver for ADM will consist of an ADI-BVF® anaerobic reactor and an ADI-SBR (sequencing batch reactor) activated sludge system. Biogas generated in the BVF® reactor will be utilized as a source of green energy for the plant’s process boilers, thereby substantially reducing the company’s fuel consumption.
ADI Systems will rise to the challenge of completing the wastewater treatment project within a tight, nine month schedule. It is the first ADI project to be financed through FINAME, in collaboration with the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES).
Design is ongoing and the project will be complete in 2015.
