The International Symposium on Bioremediation and Sustainable Environmental Technologies incorporates topics beyond those addressed by its predecessor, the In Situ and On-Site Bioremediation Symposium. Bioremediation and related technologies continue as core areas, but the program also encompasses green and sustainable remediation, sustainable site management strategies, emerging contaminants, vapor intrusion, and the environmental impacts of biology-based alternative energy production. The program is designed for scientists, engineers, regulators, site managers, and other environmental professionals, representing universities, government agencies, consultants, and R&D and service firms from around the world. University students are encouraged to attend the Symposium, and a networking lunch and job center are being provided to further their career development. Sponsors are leading organizations active in site investigation and remediation.

Program Overview
On Monday, short courses will be conducted, Exhibits will open concurrently with the Welcome Reception, and the Plenary Session will conclude the day. The technical program will be conducted Tuesday morning through Thursday. The Schedule Overview lists the sessions, panels, and other events to be conducted each day.

For registrants’ convenience in selecting sessions and presentations to attend, the Final Program (PDF)  lists the 552 platform talks, poster presentations, and panels scheduled as of June 6 and the time each will be presented. In addition, registrants will receive a link to the abstract collection, which provides additional details on each presentation. Upon arrival at the Symposium, each registrant will receive a printed, spiral-bound copy of the Final Program and a CD containing the abstracts for use during the Symposium.

Venue

As the headquarters for the Symposium, the Peppermill Resort welcomes you to Reno, “The Biggest Little City in the World.” Surrounded by magnificent blue skies and breathtaking mountain vistas and steeped in history rich with stories of the Wild West, gold and silver, and fortunes won and lost, Reno offers world-class entertainment and excitement to each visitor. Be sure to allow time to experience the beauty of Lake Tahoe, where azure skies are reflected in crystal clear waters, surrounded by tall pines on the slopes of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. To read about the Peppermill’s Green Initiatives, including its success in providing all heating required for the resort from a geothermal well drilled on the property, see the 'Going Green' page on its website.

Meals and Receptions

For the convenience of Symposium participants and to provide them numerous opportunities to meet informally with one another, meals and breaks will be provided on site during the program at no additional cost to program registrants and exhibit booth staff. Receptions will be held on Monday evening and during the Tuesday and Wednesday evening poster sessions. Continental breakfasts, lunches, and morning and afternoon breaks will be provided Tuesday through Thursday. Registrants may purchase meal tickets for their guests at cost during the Symposium. In addition, there are numerous restaurants in the Peppermill Resort and nearby.
