Alliant Insurance Services Joins Forces With ACE Environmental Risk to Launch National Public Entity Environmental Insurance Program
APEEL Insurance Program Offers Protection Against a Broad Range of Pollution Liability Risks
NEWPORT BEACH, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 07/13/11 -- Alliant Insurance Services (www.alliantinsurance.com), the nation's leading specialty insurance brokerage firm, has announced the creation of a national public entity environmental liability insurance program through a strategic alliance with ACE Environmental Risk, the U.S.-based environmental underwriting business of the ACE Group. The Alliant Public Entity Environmental Liability (APEEL) Program provides group members with tailored coverage to address the unique pollution liability exposures of public agencies.
'APEEL is the first national group purchase program created specifically to provide this specialized coverage to public entities,' reports Daniel Howell, Senior Executive Vice President and Managing Director of Alliant's Public Entity Group.
'Environmental risk has become a major and growing concern for public entities today, and APEEL provides the comprehensive protection they need at rates that are significantly less than those generally available with a standalone insurance policy,' Howell explained.
Available in all 50 states on an admitted and non-admitted basis, APEEL provides public entities with a single comprehensive policy that includes coverage for premises, covered operations, transportation, bodily injury/property damage from pollution conditions, pollution clean-up, and both above-ground and underground storage tanks. Coverage includes fixed site pollution for owned locations, as well as off-site covered operations common to public entities.
According to Alliant Vice President Shawn Kraatz, 'With APEEL there is no sharing of risk and each member is rated on its own merit, allowing entities to maintain their independence while maximizing their buying power in combination with other entities. Public agencies today need creative solutions to save dollars and APEEL gives them that alternative.'
William P. Hazelton, Executive Vice President, ACE Environmental Risk, added, 'With our more than ten years of providing environmental and public entity insurance solutions, we're pleased to join forces with Alliant's team of experienced professionals to further extend the availability of ACE USA's innovative products to the environmental insurance market and associated public entity arena. Today, there is growing uncertainty regarding the potential liabilities that commercial, private, and public entities face because of changes in environmental regulation on a local, state, federal, and even global level, and we relish the opportunity to provide insurance coverage to this specialized market.'
APEEL program members will also benefit from the extensive expertise of Alliant's environmental group, which includes dedicated specialists who provide expert advice and consultation on a complete range of environmental liability exposures and risk management strategies.
Howell noted that the APEEL program is another example of Alliant's leadership in meeting the unique needs of public entities while helping them to reduce costs. With more than 7,000 public entity clients in 48 states, Alliant has one of the largest public entity practices in the insurance industry.
