(Radolfzell/Germany) Allweiler AG, a Colfax business unit, is Germany's oldest pump manufacturer. Year 2010 marks 150 years that Allweiler has been manufacturing pumps. The company celebrated its anniversary on September 25 with a reception and an open house day for employees and their family members. Approximately 1800 visitors took advantage of this opportunity. According to executive board member Frank Kirchner, the dedication and loyalty demonstrated by Allweiler employees have been essential factors in the company's success. A culture of customer orientation and continuous innovation are also very important. 'For decades, our complete product line has enabled us to offer our customers cutting-edge solutions from a single source. As we move forward, we will focus on solutions capable of safely pumping any liquid with the lowest possible total cost for the customer,' according to Mr. Kirchner. Allweiler AG already offers intelligent leak detection and collection systems as well as integrated electronic control and monitoring systems for all types of pumps. Mr. Kirchner continues: 'Our development goes beyond conventional mechanical engineering into the realm of integrated mechatronic systems.'
Vice-President of the regional Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) Thomas Conrady presented Allweiler with a certificate in honor of its long-term success. The managing director of the Federation of German Industries (BDI) also paid tribute to the company with a cast Barbara figure, the patron saint of foundrymen. Since its founding, Allweiler AG has been one of only a few German pump manufacturers to own its own foundry.
This gives Allweiler the ability to fulfill unusual requests for special materials or casing shapes at short notice without sacrificing quality. Having in-house stator production for progressing cavity pumps ensures use of the best materials for extremely long service life and low costs. Allweiler's long history began in 1860 with fire fighting pumps. At the time, Allweiler was the only manufacturer specializing in these important products in the Lake Constance region. Since then, the company has continuously expanded its product line and geographic reach. Today, each year Allweiler sells more than 100,000 pumps for virtually any application and liquid through about 100 resellers and distributors around the world. Allweiler has been a business unit of the American Colfax Corporation since 1998. Products from its sister companies complement screw, centrifugal, and propeller pumps manufactured in Radolfzell as well as progressing cavity pumps and macerators produced in Bottrop.
For decades, Allweiler's products have made it a market and technology leader in Europe.
Allweiler's in-house plant engineering services also deliver turnkey fuel, lube-oil, and purge-water skids for all types of power plants. According to Mr. Kirchner: 'Our single-source philosophy - one contact for every liquid and every solution - will continue to define our company. When coupled with the low energy costs and highly refined customer orientation, we feel well prepared for the future.'
