Last month an article posted by Time reported that 4.9 million people in California suffer from asthma.  According to research from the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research the condition disproportionately affects low income residents.  The article also states that between 2001 and 2007 there was a 13% overall increase in the asthma rate.

The report revealed that Fresno, a lower income inland area, has a 12.9% rate of the respiratory disease.  According to some reports on national rates, asthma affects up to 7% of the entire U.S. population.

Anything that can be done to minimize or eliminate threats from this potential deadly condition could have far reaching implications. The problem of allergens in homes and other places is a huge concern for those suffering from the condition.  Allergens from cockroaches, rodents, pet dander, pollen and mold can all trigger asthmatic attacks.

Asthma attacks cause an inflammation of the lungs and airways leading to difficulty in breathing and sometimes even death.  Asthma in children has been reported to be on the rise in many industrialized countries across the globe.

LA Testing, an affiliate of EMSL Analytical, is one of the leading providers of testing services throughout California to identify asthma triggers in people’s homes, schools and places of business.  “The report highlights the asthma risks in California, and especially for those lower income residents of the state,” reported Ben Sublasky, National Director of Client Services for LA Testing and EMSL Analytical.    “Fortunately there are affordable testing solutions to help determine if there are airborne asthma triggers in homes and buildings.  Once identified, corrective actions can be put in place to minimize people’s exposure to these triggers.”

LA Testing has multiple locations across California that provides accurate and rapid testing solutions.  To learn more about testing for asthma triggers, including mold, pollen and other allergens please visit www.LATesting.com, email info@LATesting.com or call (800) 303-0047.
