CLEVELAND -- The American Cancer Society has recognized power management company Eaton with its Division Citation Excellence in Cancer award for its commitment to the Society’s mission through the company’s global Powering You to Live Well health and wellness program for employees.

The Society is recognizing companies for their exceptional efforts to help promote healthy lifestyles and reduce cancer risk among their staff. This recognition is a part of the American Cancer Society Corporate Impact Award Series, presented annually by the Society’s Corporate Relationships and Strategic Alliances team.

“Research shows that employers have a unique opportunity to make a difference in today’s workforce through health promotion and disease prevention initiatives,” said John R. Seffrin, PhD, chief executive officer of the American Cancer Society. “As the Society celebrates 101 years of helping people get well and stay well, fighting back, and finding cures for cancer, we are proud to recognize companies who emphasize the importance of cancer prevention, are working to reduce cancer risk among their workforce and are helping the Society fight one of the greatest economic burdens of all leading causes of death worldwide.”

Eaton’s Powering You to Live Well program is based on five pillars of wellness: eat healthy, manage stress, get fit, be tobacco free and know your numbers. The program is aimed at removing traditional barriers to wellness and providing employees and their families with the resources they need to achieve good health. Through a focus on wellness, Eaton believes employees can become more productive employees and more productive members of their families and communities, and Eaton can significantly reduce health care costs without shifting cost to employees.

“We are honored to receive the Division Citation Excellence Award and to engage with the important mission of the American Cancer Society,' said Cindy Brabander, Eaton’s executive vice president and chief human resources officer. 'By providing our employees and family members best-in-class health management programs, Eaton believes our wellness strategy promotes a healthier, more productive workforce and helps our employees live longer, happier, healthier lives.”
