The American Chemistry Council has released ten principles as a kind of program for modernization of the nation's Toxic Substances Control Act. REACH is mentioned as one source of influence.

The American Chemistry Council supports the effort to rework the thirty years old law and hope to contribute to its development in direction of an effective piece of legislation.

Apart from advocating increased empowerment to the Environment Protection Agency, the Council wants to put focus on hazards for children and requirements on behalf of manufacturers, importers and users of chemical substances.

This in order to provide EPA with information about the properties, risk and exposure of substances, like in REACH and other mandatory and voluntary programs.
