AMETEK Land Demonstrates New Spot Pyrometer at ALUMINIUM 2016
AMETEK Land will showcase its latest product innovation, the SPOT AL EQS (Aluminium Extrusion Quench and Strip) pyrometer at ALUMINIUM 2016, November 29 to December 1, 2016, in Dusseldorf, Germany, at Hall 12, Stand M41.
ALUMINIUM 2016, one of the world’s largest trade shows, attracts hundreds of aluminium industry suppliers and thousands of buyers from around the globe.
Richard Gagg, Global IR Product Manager for AMETEK Land, notes:“ALUMINIUM 2016 provides us with a great opportunity to demonstrate the extensive features and benefits of our recently introduced SPOT AL EQS pyrometer. The innovative, multi-mode pyrometer incorporates AMETEK Land’s more than 25 years of experience producing high-accuracy, reliable temperature measurement equipment for the aluminium industry.”
The SPOT AL EQS pyrometer is an extremely flexible instrument with pre-configured algorithms that provides high accuracy and a three-in-one capability specifically for aluminium applications at the extrusion press exit, in the extrusion press quench zone, and in aluminium hot rolling mills. In addition, the pyrometer’s algorithms can be easily customised and tuned for bespoke applications and uncommon aluminium grades.
Designed specifically to work in low emissivity environments, the SPOT AL EQS has the ability to measure a wide temperature range from 200° to 700°C / 392° to 1292°F. The SPOT AL EQS combines the latest, cutting-edge temperature detector design with the most advanced processing algorithms making it an extremely accurate and repeatable pyrometer with an industry-leading fast response time.
With all processing functions integrated into a single pyrometer, the SPOT AL EQS is suitable for use in all sized plants. It can be easily interchanged with other AMETEK Land pyrometers as well as other manufacturers’ equipment.
The SPOT AL EQS incorporates the latest digital communication capabilities and can be easily configured remotely using any standard web browser. With Power over Ethernet (POE) capabilities, it also is able to communicate data over Ethernet through a variety of different protocols (TCP-IP, Modbus TCP, DHCP, http, udp and ICMP). This further ensures that, along with the traditional 4-20mA/0-20mA analogue output signal, the SPOT AL EQS can be easily integrated into a plant’s control infrastructure.
SPOT AL EQS works straight out of the box and can be quickly and easily installed by just a single person, offering greater convenience and ease of use. If the sensor is in an inaccessible location, SPOT AL EQS has a remote viewing capability to verify alignment and ensure a high level of accuracy. A built-in camera aids alignment, which, combined with a green LED, allows the user to position the measurement point in an optimal location to avoid ambient lighting reflections.
In addition to remotely viewing and configuring SPOT using any standard web browser, AMETEK Land offers free SPOT Viewer data logging and display and configuration software. For those with multiple SPOT pyrometers, SPOT Server software enables users to log and display from up to 40 SPOT pyrometers simultaneously.
Designed in close collaboration with industry-leading aluminium producers and plant control system engineers, the SPOT AL EQS pyrometer is helping lead the way in improving aluminium extrusion and strip plant throughput, quality and energy efficiency.
