Andrew Perkins to head Aylesford newsprint recycling team
One of the UK’s best known paper mills, Aylesford Newsprint, has appointed a new head of its recycling department.
Andrew Perkins takes over from current commercial manager Chris White this month as White leaves to become head of a new plastics recycling company.
Perkins has been with Aylesford Newsprint in various roles since 1994, starting as a recycling development executive. His most recent role has seen him working alongside White to ensure high quality raw material is provided to the mill.
Prior to joining Aylesford, Perkins worked at waste management company Biffa as a depot manager in the dry waste collection division.
Speaking about his new role, Perkins said: “I’m certainly excited by the prospect of what lies ahead and I’m looking forward to finding new opportunities as well as developing existing ones further to secure our supply.”
In his new role Perkins will lead the recycling team at Aylesford who work with local authorities, waste management companies, paper merchants, the community sector and other organisations to secure the 500,000 tonnes per year of recovered paper required by the Aylesford process.
