Their population has grown by 20% in the last 20 years, but they still provide the same amount of water today as in 1990 – almost 1.2 billion litres every single day. This has been achieved by focusing on updating the network, controlling leaks and helping customers become more water efficient. The work Anglian does to underpin this, positions them as one of the most innovativewater utilities in the UK.Anglian’s commitment to continuous innovation was highlighted in its substantial research project known as ‘Shop Window’, a real-world location in Newmarket, Cambs, UK, set up to help drive innovation via collaboration across its business, supply chain and the entire man-made water cycle. By concentrating innovation in one physical place Anglian Water has, (in itsown words) “created an opportunity to unlock synergies between technologies and different ways of working, whilst providing a real-world test bed to trial products, services and initiatives, and develop viable commercial applications”. Syrinix has been working within ‘Shop Window’ to develop software tools and processes to increase the level of knowledge around transient activity.
