When ICMM (International Council on Mining & Metals) asked the mining industry for their thoughts on what were the biggest sustainability issues they faced the answers were conclusive. 40% of respondents were worried by environmental challenges whilst another 28% found social concerns challenging.

Ethical Corporation, a leader in CSR intelligence for business, is therefore launching its second Social & Environmental Risk Management and Implementation conference at a time that is highly appropriate. Liam Richardson, the conference director, offered the following remarks:

'I fundamentally believe that this conference will help bridge the knowledge gap in terms of creating an effective risk management framework and then implementing a CSR strategy on a project site. After a lot of painstaking research I think that these issues are really the core difficulties for CSR professionals in the extractive sector. I think we may be able to provide the solutions.'
