Rancho Cucamonga -- This year the California-Nevada Section is bringing together the best water industry professionals across two states to discuss and share solutions for the future. This event will take place one week from today, on October 26-29, 2015. The conference will be held at the Tropicana Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Exhibit Hall will be open on Tuesday and Wednesday, while technical sessions will run from Tuesday-Thursday.
The West is changing and so is the way we manage our water. The Conference theme this year is 'Solutions for a Changing World' and the technical program will revolve around what is being done as well as what could be done in the future. There will be roughly 150 sessions with top experts speaking on projects or topics that they have been closely involved with. This year we will be embracing a new schedule!
Water is the most talked about resource in both California and Nevada. This has been true for the last few years as drought has settled in over the western United States. At this Conference there will be two great speakers at our main events, the Opening Session and Keynote Luncheon. Chad Pregracke will be speaking during our Opening Session on his organization Living Lands & Waters. Pregracke and the Living Lands & Water crew have led 8000 cleanups on 23 rivers in 20 states and removed an estimated eight million pounds of garbage. Maureen Stapleton the General Manager of the San Diego County Water Authority will be the Keynote Speaker in Las Vegas. Stapleton oversees a dynamic agency that is aggressively pursuing a comprehensive array of water supply and infrastructure programs designed to diversify and improve the reliability of San Diego County's water supply.
The Annual Fall Conference has also added some new events that have not previously been a part of our conferences. For first time attendees there will be an orientation to help them get the most out of their experience by going over all the must see items on the schedule. Also a new 'Early Bird Session' from 7:30-8:30 has been added on Wednesday for those attendees that like to get an early start to their day! In the exhibit hall there will be two new editions, the Innovation Lounge (a partnership with the Metropolitan District of Southern California) and the Exhibit Hall Breakfast which will both take place on Wednesday.
