Over 18,000 employers applied, and out of 800 finalists just 100 were named to the final list. Organizations were evaluated on six criteria related to wellness in the workplace:
- culture and leadership commitment,
- foundational components of a strong program,
- strategic planning,
- communications and marketing,
- programming and interventions, such as engagement and motivation strategies,
- and reporting and analysis.
The Healthiest Employer Award recognizes organizations that proactively improve the health of their population. “Our employees are our most valued asset and we are committed to making sure they thrive,” says Rosanna Ouellette-Pesicka, Vice President of Employee Services & Systems at Antea Group. “We are committed to the well-being of our workforce and have designed a wellness program that is comprehensive, interactive and personalized to make it easy for employees and their families to live their healthiest lives.”
Through a partnership with The Vitality Group (itself named one of FORTUNE’s 2015 Change the Worldlist of companies that are “doing well by doing good”) and initiatives including free health screenings, educational tools, fitness challenges and personal coaching, employees are encouraged to improve and maintain healthy living choices.
Since its wellness program inception in 2012, Antea Group has seen a direct correlation to measurable reductions in employee blood pressure and cholesterol levels. “The consulting industry is really fast-paced, and you’re basically ‘on’ all the time. We wanted something that would help our employees be more mindful of their health. We wanted to create the understanding that taking care of your physical self can help you be a happier, safer, and more effective worker,” says Ouellette-Pisecka. “Like any company, we want employees to work well, but more importantly, at Antea Group, we also want them to live well.”
