Apprentices offered the chance to engineer a successful future
Preston-based waste handling systems provider, Pakawaste, is continuing to support young engineering talent by offering valuable apprenticeships to committed job seekers.
Established in 1976, Pakawaste offers the largest range of waste handling equipment in the UK and from its purpose-built Preston factory, supplies a range of products including balers, portable compactors, bins and specialist waste handling systems. With a 50-strong team, the company offers a range of roles including service engineers, sales managers, business administrators and support staff. Pakawaste has been investing in apprentices for many years and during this period has supported dozens of young people in gaining valuable paid work experience to enable them to enhance their skills and become more employable in the future.
Recent recipients of Pakawaste's successful apprenticeship initiatives include 21-year-old Matthew Winder, a skilled welder fabricator, who was presented with an award from Training 2000 award for receiving the highest possible result for his City and Guilds Level 3 qualification and Curtis Powell, 18, who is currently undergoing an apprenticeship as a business administrator in the company's service department.
Pakawaste Group Managing Director, David Hamer, said: 'As a successful business, we are delighted to be in a position to offer young people who show potential, a strong work ethic and excellent team skills the chance to embark upon apprenticeships with Pakawaste. In return for hard work, dedication and consistent performance, we offer apprentices a supportive working environment, the opportunity to develop new skills and the chance to build a better future. Apprenticeships are beneficial for both employee and employer and we would encourage other companies to consider offering skills and potential employment opportunities just like we do.'
Pakawaste has plans to launch apprenticeships in the areas of welding and fabricating and electrical engineering in the next 12 months.
Pakawaste supplies a wide range of market sectors including food processors and manufacturers, hotels and restaurants, supermarkets, shopping centres, hospitals, the pharmaceutical industry, logistics companies, manufacturing industries, educational establishments, waste contractors and recycling companies to name but a few.
