Apprion's Latest Wireless Application Automatically, Remotely and Continuously Monitors Tanks to Improve Safety, Efficiency, and Utilization

MOBILE, AL -- (Marketwire) -- 10/19/11 -- ISA Automation Week -- Apprion, the leader in industrial wireless application systems, today announced the ION Tank Gauging Application, which remotely and continuously monitors a tank's liquid levels, vapor pressure, temperature, hazardous conditions and standing water.

The ION Tank Gauging Application is one of many in Apprion's fast-growing family of industrial applications, which encompass applications for Asset Location, Communications, System Monitoring, Video and Mobility. ION Tank Gauging extends existing ION System Monitoring applications for Condition Monitoring, Network Monitoring and Emission Monitoring. Apprion's ION System streams real-time intelligence from all these applications and others into a common dashboard view for plant operators in industrial process manufacturing industries.

As a result, industrial users now have added capabilities to automatically gauge tank capacity utilization, accurately know inventory levels and dramatically reduce loss control, whether from overflows or hazardous safety incidents. This wireless monitoring capability from remote control stations replaces time-consuming, inefficient, error-prone manual processes.

'The ability to remotely monitor and scrutinize the daily operations and equipment of industrial facilities just got a lot wider with the ION Tank Gauging Application,' said Sarah Prinster, VP of Corporate Marketing, Apprion. 'Many of our loyal customers, who have realized the business value of wireless applications, have asked Apprion to broaden our portfolio with new capabilities to monitor various elements of their tank levels. We have answered the call with our newest innovation which can slash conventional tank-gauging costs in the high double-digit percentages.'

Prinster added that ION Tank Gauging captures and interprets tank-gauging data from single or all tanks in a facility that previously was either technically or financially out of reach for operators. The application also serves as a framework for unifying disparate tank gauging hardware technology into a single dashboard for a complete view of tank conditions and status. Sensor devices from multiple vendors installed in the tanks can communicate with Apprion's award-winning, industry-leading wireless infrastructure, which is an open-protocol system that integrates and transmits myriad data points in one central web-based dashboard.

The complete ION System not only provides a window into tank levels, but it also combines it with data from other safety, security, compliance and operational applications. Automated alerts provide immediate notification of tank levels before overflows or hazardous pressure situations. In addition, two backhaul data paths meet compliance requirements, and reporting capabilities provide historical information, such as tank levels, which help to identify long-term and troubling trends.

Apprion's world-class engineers have architected the ION System so that wireless network devices relay data around obstacles, which means there is no single point of failure. The self-healing network also ensures uninterrupted data communication in an environment with large obstacles such as storage tanks.
