Institute of Environmental Sciences and Technology (IEST)

Are you prepared for the new ISO 14644-1 and -2?

November 11-12 may be your last opportunity to attend IEST’s authoritative training courses prior to the release of the new Draft International Standard (DIS) versions of the air cleanliness benchmarks: ISO 14644 Part 1: Classification of air cleanliness and Part 2: Specifications for testing and monitoring to prove continued compliance with ISO 14644-1. The upcoming publication of the DIS stage Standards is vitally important –it marks the first stage that the Standards may be used as a trade reference per agreement between customer and supplier.

To help ensure your organization is aware of the potential impact and new requirements, IEST will present a newly updated two-day certificate course on the ISO 14644 Standards. The courses will be held during the IEST Fall Conference November 9–12, 2009 at the Doubletree Hotel Chicago-Arlington Heights in Arlington Heights, Illinois. The certificate courses will feature a comprehensive review of the current Standards and their future direction.

IEST is the leading US nonprofit contamination control society and Secretariat for ISO Technical Committee 209 (ISO/TC 209), the committee developing the ISO 14644 Standards. The courses covering the new Standards are led by renown United States ISO/TC 209 expert Robert Meilke, who has served for more than 10 years on the international working group developing the new Standards. The certificate program also includes practical applications of the ISO 14644 series, presented by Daniel Dennison, director of cleanroom testing (North America) for NNE Pharmaplan and IEST Contamination Control working group member. Attendees will receive ample time for dialog with the instructors to help ensure understanding of the impact of the new Standards.

The Conference features five contamination control tutorials available either as stand-alone classes or combined into value-oriented certificate programs. Lunch is included on both days of the certificate program and with the full-day classes taken as stand-alone tutorials. Topics include:

• Personnel and Contamination Control (full-day); Anne Marie Dixon, instructor
• Garments and Consumables (full-day); Michael Rataj, instructor
• Understanding the ISO Series (half-day); Robert Mielke, instructor
• Testing to Determine the Classification of Air Cleanliness (half-day); Robert Mielke, instructor
• The Practical Application of ISO 14644-3 (full-day); Daniel Dennison and Robert Mielke, instructors

To assist organizations in receiving the training they need despite the current economy, IEST is extending its multi-registration discount program. Companies submitting two tutorial or tutorial certificate program registrations are eligible to receive one tutorial or tutorial certificate registration at no charge.
