Paradise Valley and Sun City Xeriscape Gardens made possible by Bureau of Reclamation Grant awarded to Water Resources Team

PHOENIX--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- American Water, the largest investor-owned U.S. water and wastewater utility company, announced today that its subsidiary Arizona American Water will be leading two grand opening ceremonies for their new xeriscape gardens in Sun City and Paradise Valley.

Sun City officials and residents will celebrate the ribbon cutting at their new xeriscape garden located at the Sun City Office, 15626 N. Del Webb on Thursday December 8th, 2011 at 9:00 a.m.

Paradise Valley Town officials and residents will celebrate the ribbon cutting at the PV Xeriscape Garden at 6229 N. Mockingbird Lane, Paradise Valley, Friday December 9th, 2011 at 9:00 a.m.

Xeriscape gardening is a landscaping technique that uses drought resistant plants and shrubs in order to minimize water irrigation. The two gardens were made possible by Arizona American Water’s water resources team and by a cost share grant from the United States Bureau of Reclamation.

“We are always eager to educate our costumers in ways to conserve water,” said Paul Townsley, President of Arizona American Water. “When it comes to achieving beautiful landscaping in the desert, a xeriscape garden is a wonderful example for our costumers of how to save water without compromising beauty.”

Arizona American Water is encouraging all residents to attend the events to find out more about water conservation, free coffee and doughnuts will be provided.
