PHOENIX, AZ -- (Marketwire) -- 11/30/11 -- The Arizona Energy Consortium (AEC), a committee of the Arizona Technology Council comprised of more than 250 members from the state's diverse energy sectors, announced the selection of Christopher Davey, president, EnviroMission as its vice chair today.
Davey is an Australian, based in the U.S. with a deep expertise in renewable energy and financial matters. He brings an unparalleled depth of experience in the financial markets where he worked with a number of public and private companies and held numerous executive roles where he was responsible for compliance, business development and fundraising efforts. Since moving to Arizona, Davey has also become a key leader within the business community serving on a number of boards and advisory panels.
'We are very pleased to have Chris join the AEC as vice chair given his strong knowledge of the energy industry and ability to bridge gaps within the industry,' said Michelle De Blasi of Quarles & Brady, chair of the AEC.
As president of EnviroMission, Davey's involvement has been vital to the development of the first U.S. solar tower project, which will be located in Arizona. As part of his role with EnviroMission, he has negotiated a number of Power Purchase Agreements, secured parcels of land with both governmental and private bodies, raised capital to deliver the unique solar tower technology and advocated on behalf of the energy industry. Davey has been closely involved with the development of the 'Arizona's Energy Future' report at the recent AZ Town Hall on Energy, as well as the recently published 'Arizona Solar Strategic Plan,' both of which are critical roadmaps for the future development of Arizona's energy industry.
'Chris has been appointed to this position to help the consortium advance the energy industry's goals and priorities,' said Steven G. Zylstra, president and CEO of the Arizona Technology Council. 'As the committee works to develop recommendations that will create good-paying jobs in our state economy and help build a safe, equitable, and sustainable future for ourselves and our children, Chris will provide valuable leadership. We welcome him to the team.'
