EMSL Analytical, Inc. offers quality asbestos testing

The Korea Baseball Organization states that its pro baseball season will continue despite the high levels of asbestos found in several parks’ soil. After testing, five of the seven pro baseball stadiums showed elevated asbestos levels due to the presence of olivine, a type of mineral used to make sports fields drain more easily after a rainfall.

The KBO said that the contaminated grounds would be replaced after the season ended. In the meantime, the fields will be watered more often to prevent dust from rising.

However, some feel these measures are inadequate. One civic group has even staged protests over the delay of the asbestos removal.

Olivine was also found in sports fields at public high schools, where play has now been prohibited until the cleanup process is complete.

“EMSL Analytical, Inc. provides reliable, fast asbestos testing,” states Joseph Frasca, Senior VP of Marketing at EMSL. “We have clients from around the world who depend on our results.”
