atg UV Technology Deliver North Sea’s Largest UV Drinking Water Package
atg UV Technology, a world leader in oil and gas water treatment, will this month deliver one of the North Sea’s largest offshore drinking water packages. Pictured below in its final stages of manufacture, the drinking water package will treat a peak flow of 170 m3/hr, delivering clean, sterile water for the crew of the Norwegian based accommodation platform, based in the Johan Sverdrup oil field.
atg UV were selected on the basis of their experience and successful oil and gas industry track record on ten platforms and FPSO’s in the Norwegian sector over the last four years.
At 170 tons per hour, the bespoke package is one of the largest, high flow drinking water packages to be installed in the North Sea, treating water in accordance with the strict water quality requirements of the FHI (Norwegian Institute of Public Health) Water Report 120.
The package, designed and manufactured in Wigan, is designed for installation in an ATEX Zone 2, IIB, T3 rated hazardous area. Intended to be installed on deck in sub-zero temperatures, and with strict limitations on footprint and weight, the package utilises specially designed and insulated environmental shields that avoid the need for heat tracing and insulation. This unique concept both reduced the size and foot print of the package, whilst significantly reducing the need for ongoing maintenance and corrosion inspections often associated with insulated pipework installations.
Additional features included ATEX Ex d UV Chambers, ATEX Ex p control and power panel with SAS class 1 control integration and design and testing to fully comply with both the rigorous NOROK and Statoil TR engineering specifications.
As the world leader for hazardous area ultraviolet disinfection systems, atg UV can provide either standalone UV systems, or fully integrated ATEX rated skid mounted packages including all necessary ancillary equipment such as valves, filters, pumps and instrumentation.
