LEXINGTON, Mass.- Atmospheric and Environmental Research (AER) announced today that it is a key member of the team led by Riverside Technology, Inc., to deliver wide-ranging scientific and technical (Sci-Tech) services to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). The Riverside-led team, including AER, was recently awarded a five-year contract to provide Sci-Tech expertise across NOAA.
AER scientists and engineers will play a pivotal role in supporting NOAA’s mission to understand and predict changes in Earth’s environment from the depths of the ocean to the surface of the sun, and to conserve and manage coastal and marine resources.
In supporting the NOAA Sci-Tech initiative, AER will leverage its more than 30 years of scientific research and operational experience. For example, AER science has improved monitoring of the weather, water, and climate and helped NOAA to get the most out of the data from its operational satellites, leading to improved quality of short- and long-term weather and climate predictions and warnings.
“We are honored to have been selected as part of the world-class team that Riverside Technology has assembled to pursue this vitally important national initiative,” said Ron Isaacs, AER executive vice president. “NOAA is at the forefront of atmospheric, oceanic, space weather, and climate-related research, and we look forward to helping the agency continue to advance the science of monitoring and predicting environmental changes to meet our nation’s economic, social, and environmental needs.”
“With its advanced analytical and modeling capabilities, AER will play a critical role in helping the Riverside team meet the strategic scientific objectives of the NOAA contract,” said Larry Brazil, Riverside Technology president and CEO. “Equally important, AER’s pragmatic approach to the business side of science will ensure that we are able to meet our goals on time and on budget.”
