June 23, 2021 -- In a move to counteract the issue of microparticles in tyre and brake wear (and other pollutants) Audi has been working with the Technical University of berlin on a filtration system that could bring “sludge mining” a step closer.

The filters will be used to prevent harmful substances, including tyre wear particles, from entering bodies of water such as sewers and even rainwater. The collaborative project was first launched in September 2020 and will run for three and a half years.
