AWWA announces publication of drought preparedness manual

DENVER -- The American Water Works Association (AWWA) announced today the publication of a new AWWA Manual of Water Supply Practices, Drought Preparedness and Response (M60).

Providing a reliable supply of water requires planning for water shortages of varying degree and duration, and advance preparation for such shortages is the best defense. With that in mind, M60 provides tried-and-true strategies and tactics for municipal water providers, and introduces new tools and methods that will minimize the effects of short- to long-term drought.

The manual provides a proven, seven-step process to anticipate and respond to water shortages through a structured planning process. After reading M60, utility managers will be knowledgeable about all of their options and prepared to make informed, defensible decisions about how best to manage serious water shortages.

AWWA is the authoritative resource for knowledge, information, and advocacy to improve the quality and supply of water in North America and beyond.
