AWWA comment period on ANSI/AWWA C519 - High performance butterfly valves, 3 In. (80 mm) through 60 In. (1,500 mm)
AWWA solicits public comments on all proposed new AWWA Standards, and on all proposed revisions, reaffirmations, or withdrawals of existing AWWA Standards. The referenced standards project is being considered for approval and the publication of this notice begins AWWA's 30-day public comment period. Final publication of the standard may take several months. When it is available, a notice will be published in the official notice section of Journal - American Water Works Association. The standard becomes an effective AWWA standard on the first day of the month following such publication in Journal - American Water Works Association.
This standard establishes minimum requirements for high performance butterfly valves, 3 in. (75 mm) through 60 in. (1524 mm) in diameter, with various body and end types, for raw, potable and reclaimed water having a pH range from 6–12 and a temperature range from 33°–125°F (0.6°–51.5°C). This standard covers three pressure ratings for high performance butterfly valves suitable for maximum steady-state fluid working and differential pressures of 150 psig (1034 kPa), 275 psig (1896 kPa) and 500 psig (3450 kPa), and maximum pipeline fluid velocity ranges of 16 ft/sec (4.9 m/sec), 24 ft/sec (7.3 m/sec), and 35 ft/sec (10.7 m/sec). The scope of carbon steel and stainless steel valves includes all sizes, classes and body styles. The scope of ductile iron valves includes all sizes in wafer and lugged-wafer bodies. Flanged ductile iron body scope includes 3 in. through 60 in. for classes 150B, 150C, and 150D; 3 in. through 48 in. for classes 275B, 275C, and 275D; and 3 in. through 24 in. in class 500B, 500C, and 500D.
