Newark, Delaware -- B&W Tek, Inc., an advanced instrumentation company that delivers lab quality Raman spectroscopy solutions through user-friendly mobile platforms is proud to announce that the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) is the latest federal agency to purchase the TacticID-GP® handheld Raman system. This latest installation of TacticID-GP also notes an important synergy between safety agencies and manufacturers in Delaware, with B&W Tek, Inc. headquartered in Newark.
The TacticID-GP system has an on-board library of thousands of hazardous and common chemicals, explosives, narcotics, pharmaceutical drugs and more. The system delivers fast, accurate, on-site identification of unknown substances in seconds with clear warning signals and safety information.
TacticID-GP will be utilized by the highly trained Emergency Prevention and Response group of DNREC, whose primary purpose is to respond 24/7 to statewide incidents ranging from petroleum and hazardous substance spills to major events including possible weapons of mass destruction. The group also coordinates responses with local fire departments and various local, state, and federal agencies.
For the first time, TacticID-GP will be used by DNREC on site during the four day June 2015 Firefly concert in Dover, Delaware. With over 65,000 people expected to attend, TacticID-GP will be a critical safety tool that will help ensure concert-goer security. In the unlikely event of a hazardous material incident at the concert, DNREC would use the TacticID-GP to quickly identify the substance in question and expedite next steps for remediation.
B&W Tek, Inc. is excited to be working with their Delaware neighbors at DNREC and is proud to be able to contribute products that help ensure the safety of all Delaware citizens.
