Fluor-B&W Portsmouth LLC Activities Potentially Valued at $2.1 Billion Over 10 Years. CHARLOTTE, N.C.- The Babcock & Wilcox Company (B&W) (NYSE:BWC), through its subsidiary Babcock & Wilcox Technical Services Group, Inc. (B&W TSG), announced that the Fluor-B&W Portsmouth, LLC team has been awarded the decontamination and decommissioning contract at the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant in Ohio. The contract has an estimated value of approximately $2.1 billion over a 10-year period, which includes an initial five-year period in addition to a potential five-year extension based on performance and government requirements.

“We are proud to have been chosen by the Department of Energy for this critical work at Portsmouth as a part of the team with Fluor,” said S. Robert Cochran, B&W TSG President. “Accelerating the decontamination and decommissioning work at Portsmouth is another important element within DOE’s nationwide environmental cleanup efforts. B&W looks forward to bringing the same high standards of safety and operational excellence that we bring to the other DOE facilities where we operate.”

The primary work at the Portsmouth facility, located in Pike County, Ohio, will include decontaminating and demolishing three large process facilities at the site as well as cleaning up and remediating contaminated soil and groundwater.

B&W TSG is a recognized leader in delivering effective environmental cleanup services at U.S. government facilities and has performed work at DOE’s Mound, Hanford and Rocky Flats locations. B&W subsidiary Nuclear Fuel Services, Inc. is currently a subcontractor to Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, LLC, a firm that provides management and operations at DOE’s Savannah River Site. B&W TSG is also a team member of Savannah River Remediation that currently manages the Savannah River Site Liquid Waste Disposition Program.
