June 16, 2011 - (WOODBRIDGE, VA) – Balfour Beatty Infrastructure, Inc. announces the acquisition of Fru-Con, a leading water and wastewater infrastructure contractor based in Virginia. Balfour Beatty Infrastructure acquired Fru-Con Construction, LLC, from Germany-based Bilfinger-Berger.
“The water and wastewater infrastructure market has been very successful for Balfour Beatty Infrastructure,” said Ray Bond, president and CEO of Balfour Beatty Infrastructure. “With Fru-Con added to our portfolio we now combine the expertise of a water and wastewater specialist with those of a local civil contractor. Fru-Con will retain its name and operate as a region of Balfour Beatty Infrastructure. The approximately 150 regional employees will be led by Michael R. Fischer, vice president of Fru-Con. Fischer will continue to be based in Woodbridge, Va., and will report to Bond.
“We are excited to become a part of Balfour Beatty Infrastructure,” said Fischer. “It’s a great fit as both companies emphasize safety, integrity, excellence, teamwork. We plan to continue offering our clients the service they have come to expect from Fru-Con. The acquisition will allow us to have greater bench strength and more resources to grow the business in existing and new markets.”
