(Valencia, CA) November 12, 2013 -- UltraViolet Devices, Inc. (UVDI) announced today that Barona Resort & Casino has selected the company’s state-of-the-art V-PAC™ Photo-catalytic Air Cleaning System to improve indoor air quality at the award-winning casino in San Diego. The installation of the multi-million dollar air purification system is underway and is scheduled to be completed in December.

Earlier this year, a controlled study was conducted in Barona’s Off-Track Betting room to determine the effectiveness of UVDI’s V-PAC™ system in reducing volatile organic compounds (VOCs).  An accredited third-party, Western Environmental Services, was engaged to collect data and perform the evaluation of the V-PAC™ system.

“At Barona we are constantly looking for technology that can help us improve our player experience as well as offer the best work environment for our staff,” said Rick Salinas, general manager of Barona Resort & Casino. “After looking at a variety of systems, it became clear to us that UVDI's V-PAC™ system is the most advanced on the market.  And, the results of the Western Environmental Services' study further demonstrated the V-PAC™ system will provide Barona with the cleanest air in the casino industry.”

As part of the study, VOC levels in the Off-Track Betting room were continuously monitored for three days from February 8th through the 10th of this year without UVDI’s system. VOC levels were then tested again from February 28th through April 1st with the UVDI V-PAC™ system installed.

“Results of the study indicated a dramatic reduction in VOC levels with the use of UVDI’s V-PAC™ Photo-Catalytic Air Cleaning System,” reported Ashish Mathur, Ph. D, Vice President, Innovation and Technology at UltraViolet Devices, Inc. “This indicates that the V-PAC™ Photo-Catalytic Air Cleaning System was not only effective in reducing the VOC concentration, but was also highly effective in handling spikes in VOC levels.”
