Abbotsford -- BARR Plastics Inc. was honored to claim their second water conservation award for the year on November 26, presented by the City of Abbotsford.

The certificate, received at City Hall by Dean Barrett, co-owner of BARR Plastics Inc., stated to be “in support of BARR’s water conservation efforts that assist in making the City of Abbotsford a sustainable and environmentally conscience community.”

Presented by Mayor Bruce Banman was also a framed picture of Barrett standing with members of the town council at the Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre; a highlight of one of BARR’s rainwater projects this year, to turn rain into ice for the centre’s hockey rink.

“The city and its dedicated staff have been very forward-thinking in their commitment to water conservation, using rainwater harvesting as a tool,” says Barrett, who has been promoting BARR’s strong role in rainwater harvesting and storm water management for the past five years.

BARR Plastics Inc. has supplied numerous rainwater collection systems in and around the Fraser Valley. With the ever-growing concern of the world’s remaining fresh water supply, BARR has made it their goal to see the practice of rainwater harvesting adopted on a wide scale and incorporated into all construction projects.

Barrett continues, “We look forward to working with other municipalities, industries and residents to help them achieve sustainability in their operations and homes. Please help conserve our most precious life sustaining resource.”

Based in Abbotsford, BC, BARR Plastics Inc. is a leading industrial supplier of plastic tanks, totes and fabrication services.
