Chief executive of Biffa Andre Horbach has stepped down after two years in the role.
Horback was appointed Biffa chief executive in June 2008, after leaving his post as chief executive of global wind energy firm Suzlon Energy. When Horbach took over from interim chief executive William Woodburn, Woodburn said: “One of my most important responsibilities at Biffa has been to search for the right executive to lead the business forward. Once I became more familiar with Biffa’s strengths and opportunities, there was no question that Andre Horbach was the right choice to head Biffa.”
Mark Keough, previously a partner at McKinsey and chief executive of a leading pan-European healthcare services provider, will take on the role at Biffa of interim chief executive. Keough has 20 years experience at a senior management level .
He said: “This is an exciting time to join Biffa as the company continues with its strategy of developing integrated waste management solutions to best meet customers’ current and future needs. I look forward to working with the board and management team to ensure the success of the business going forward.”
Biffa chairman Bill Woodburn added: “Mark’s background and experience mean that he is well suited to lead the group into its next phase of growth and I’m delighted to welcome him to Biffa.”
