BIO Announces Plenary Session Topics and Speakers for 2010 Pacific Rim Summit on Industrial Biotech and Bioenergy

WASHINGTON - The Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) today announced that plenary speakers will discuss future drop-in transportation and aviation biofuels, potential advances in algae and marine biotechnology and efforts to commercialize renewable chemicals. Confirmed plenary session speakers include:

  • Bobby Bringi, President and CEO, MBI
  • Pat Gruber, CEO, Gevo
  • Ron Stoltz, Manager, Sandia Energy Innovation Initiatives Office
  • Marco Ziegler, Partner, McKinsey & Company

Brent Erickson, executive vice president of BIO’s Industrial & Environmental Section, stated, “The Pacific Rim Summit promises to showcase industrial biotechnology innovation and developments in specialty chemicals, green chemistry and biobased products from India, Asia, and emerging regions of the world. We are excited to present an outstanding line-up of thought leaders and entrepreneurs from leading companies and research organizations.”

Now in its fifth year, the Pacific Rim Summit on Industrial Biotechnology and Bioenergy will address the latest issues in industrial biotechnology, including algae, advanced biofuels, biopolymers and bioplastics, dedicated energy crops, green chemistry, and synthetic biology.
