BMW, the world’s leading premium manufacturer of automobiles and motorcycles, emphasizes its commitment to ecological and social sustainability as it will participate in the Sustainable Energy & Technology Asia 2016 exhibition and conference, or SETA 2016, on March 23-25 in Bangkok.

According to a message from Mr. Matthias Pfalz, President of BMW Group Thailand, the event provides BMW Thailand with further opportunities to contribute to improvements in energy efficiency.

“We demonstrate our commitment to sustainability through our innovative products – including the BMW X5 xDrive40e, our first plug-in hybrid SAV model to bring together the BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system and BMW eDrive technology for exemplary efficiency,” Mr Pfalz stated in the message.

With the 2.0-litre internal combustion engine, winner of the coveted “International Engine of the Year” title, the electric motor, and the intelligently controlled interaction between the combustion engine and the electric drive, this plug-in hybrid SAV features exceptionally dynamic acceleration with a fuel consumption rate of 31.3 km/l and CO2 emissions at 76 g/km.

“We strongly believe that our product will be able to take customers to a new level of sustainability and help them welcome the new era of electric mobility,” Mr Pfalz said.

At the second day of SETA 2016 conference on Mar 24, Dr. Felix Klanner, Director of Future Mobility Research joint Initiative of BMW Group and Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University (NTU) will present to the audience the topic of “Electric, Plug-in Hybrid vehicles and Infrastructure”.

SETA 2016 developed specifically for international, governmental and industrial discussions and collaboration on developing sustainable energy policies for the region’s future economic development. Supported Thailand’s Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Transport and Ministry of Science and technology as well as private sector organizations and associations, SETA 2016 targets to welcome around 2,500 visitors and delegates from the power, energy, technology, utility and transport industries. The conference is managed by GAT International Co., LTD.
