Montreal played host to the inaugural meeting of the Global Cleantech Cluster Association (GCCA) this year as part of the Ecocity World Summit.

The meeting brought together global leaders in the cleantech industry in order to combine resources and help speed up cleantech development...

'We are very pleased to have convinced GCCA that Québec is the ideal place to hold its very first international conference,' Denis Leclerc, Écotech Québec's President and CEO remarked.

'We have focused primarily on the fact that Québec is home of key cleantech companies and several international environmental organizations and that the province is firmly committed to 'greening' the economy and fighting climate change.'

Leclerc gave the opening remarks at the conference.

Écotech Québec was launched last year and is the first cluster of its kind to emerge in Canada. The cluster consists of cleantech companies, governmental organizations, and financiers who can help one another fulfill needs in each area of cleantech.

It supports entrepreneurs in 'accelerating the design, development, adoption, commercialization, and export of clean technologies.'

'Our ultimate goal is to create ideal conditions for accelerating the development of clean technology and facilitating its adoption and commercialization,' said Andrée-Lise Méthot, chair of the board.

And they're well on the way. Écotech Québec is nominated for a number of GCCA Later Stage awards:
